Colorado!!! Part 2

We made it to Colorado Springs where we planned to see our friends, the Kemmerlins. We got to know this family through Classical Conversations when they were stationed at our air force base, and ever since they moved to CO Claire has been asking for every holiday to "go see Val in Colorado." So we finally were able to make her wish come true!

When we arrived in the springs the Kemmerlins were not back yet from out of town, so they surprised us with a free pass to a trampoline park to play while we waited for them to get home! It was the perfect thing after all of the driving we had done that weekend. They even had a kids' ninja course which Claire and AK got to try!

Soon our friends were back and we were able to reunite with them at their house.

What a blessing it was to be able to stay with Ryan and Amanda and catch up and be so completely blown away by their hospitality! Each of our kids - Claire and Val, AK and Lucas, Owen and Vera - had a built in playmate (except for Georgia May, who is only 7 months old and was just happy to be there!) The kids played beautifully all week - we couldn't have asked for a better set-up for them!

Monday we all set out to explore the Garden of the Gods.

Here's the whole group!

It took Owen a while to muster up the courage to climb. We finally realized it was because he had overheard us talking about snakes, which he recently had a somewhat traumatic experience when he and Dobby ran across a snake in her yard. I don't think he's quite gotten over that scare yet, and he was convinced he was going to run into a snake here. It took some coaxing, but eventually he overcame his fear and had a great time.

Then there was the moment when a bird pooped on Amanda's arm.

Vera just figured she was as big as everyone else!

Daddy makes him brave...

Aaah, there it is. He's good now.

AK and Lucas had no fear about climbing as high as they possibly could. We kept losing them both!

Vera: "Wait for me!"

After climbing for a while, we set out on the bikes...

Like father, like son.
