Well, we have just completed our first year of Classical Conversations, and oh, the things we have learned! Here are some pictures from throughout the year and just a small sampling of the information these kids are exposed to and work to memorize...
Learning the scale in music...
...So they could play the tin whistle!
Crazy hair day!!!
They studied human anatomy...
...and made lifesize human anatomy people!
Of course, nothing could replace the friendships and play-time!
They gave oral presentations every week. This is Claire giving her presentation the week after Owen was born...and of course, the topic she chose that week was her baby brother!
Since they studied U.S. History this year, Lady Liberty came to see the kids and taught them all about the Statue of Liberty!
Learning Latin with puppets...
They played lots of review games with their memory work...
They learned basic techniques in drawing and also studied American artists...
(More playtime!)
They did science experiments each week...
They learned orchestra instruments and were exposed to great composers...
They learned U.S. geography...
(More review games!)
We really had a great time this year in CC, and we are so thankful for Claire's tutor, Mrs. Morgan! She did so great with the youngest ones in the program, introducing the material in a relaxed and fun way. I am amazed at the amount of information that was presented, and really at the amount that Claire (and even AK, vicariously) retained just through listening to the memory work and attending class each week. And I am excited about doing it all again next year!
