Quotables

It is high time for another "Quotables by Claire" post. Here we go...

*Claire still loves to sing as much as ever. Her lyrics can get...a little creative. Here are some examples:

This is the day, this is the day
In the Lord's army, in the Lord's army
We will rejoice, we will rejoice
And be glad in May, and be glad in May

Or, the other day, she sang this one:

The mailman built his house upon the rock
The mailman built his house upon the rock
The mailman built his house upon the rock
And the rain also came down

It's good to know we have a theologically sound postal service worker.

*2 days ago I walked into the living room and Claire jumped. Not a good sign. Then I noticed her scissors in her hand and a guilty look on her face. Also not a good sign. Then I saw a chunk of hair on the floor. A very not good sign. Yes, Claire took it upon herself to add a few layers to her beautiful locks. As I moaned, "Oh Claire. Oh Claire, your hair!" She said, "It's okay Mommy. It's okay. I left some up there."

*Claire wrote something on a piece of paper and then "read" it to me. This is what she said:
"Oh Lord my Christ. All the children come to me. Come to Jesus, children. Come to Jesus."
Might we have a future evangelist on our hands?

*(Gigi = my sister Jeni, Nan = my mom, Bean = my brother-in-law, Gigi's husband)
Claire and I were praying for a little boy that my sister told me about yesterday, and Claire stayed concerned about this boy for quite a while. She asked me all about him and this was part of our conversation...
C: Is Gigi his mommy?
Me: No, Gigi just keeps him sometimes when his mommy and daddy have to go somewhere.
C: Oh. Is Nan his mommy?
Me: No, honey, I don't know who his mommy is. I don't know her name.
C: (Thoughtful pause...) Is Bean his mommy?

*The other day we were looking through some pictures from when Claire was a baby. Actually, we were looking at the first few years of this blog, which I had ordered a few months ago in book form, to keep for our family album. So of course the pages were filled with pics of Claire, and she was just eating it up, showing Nan and Popple all of those pictures. Let me recount a little of the narration for you...

"Awww, look. That's me when I was asleep!"

"Awww, that's me!"

"Awww, that's me when I was on the couch."

"Awww, and that's me when I was a boy!"
