One of the highlights of last week for me was getting to see my precious friend Joanna. Robby and Joanna were dear friends of ours in seminary. We met them the first year we were there, bonded quickly over a dinner out at Golden Corral (where Spencer conveniently forgot his wallet and Robby had to pay) and a game of speed scrabble, and solidified our forever friendship one fateful evening which started with a mountain bike excursion for the boys and ended with Robby driving all four of us to the emergency room, Spencer getting 12 staples in his head, and the top corner of our toilet mysteriously missing. Robby and Joanna eventually moved right next door to us, and we were so blessed to call them some of our dearest friends. I will always miss those days of literally borrowing a cup of sugar from my neighbor.
Well, things have changed since our seminary days. Our friends have been in Richmond, VA, for a few years now, working with a church plant. They are both incredibly gifted and passionate about reaching out to others with the gospel and literally loving their neighbors as themselves. Trey, who was born while we were still in Wake Forest, is now a very grownup four year old, and Gracie, Claire, and Averi Kate have all been born since we moved away from one another. However, the bonds of our friendship don't fade with distance, because they are founded on our unchanging Savior. It was so much fun to watch our kids play as if they have known one another all their lives. Watch the progression of these pictures, as they go from almost normal to a little bit crazy...
Okay, things are getting a little out of hand. We love you so much, our dear Christmas friends!!!
I adore how it seems like the three kids have been friends forever. Those pictures are priceless. Especially Claire and Trey's interaction in them. I love you bunches. So glad we got to hang out.
