The Toenail

This is a toenail.


It's a Claire-sized toenail that got stuck in our astro-turf...I mean, carpet. Yes, anyone who saw this would think, "Look at that small toenail in the carpet."

Anyone except for Claire.

Because to Claire, this was no toenail.


It was the moon.

I noticed Claire leaning over the toenail, intensely studying it. Then I heard, "Moon! Moon!"


This continued for 10 minutes, with Claire excitedly telling me that yes, in fact, we had the moon stuck in our carpet.

And this is her face after I gently informed her that, in fact, it was not the moon, but a toenail.

She's thinking, "Right. Next she's going to tell me that Elmo is just a puppet."
