Road Trippin Part 3: Flagstaff and Sedona

After a few more hours stuffed into the van...

...we pulled into the Flagstaff KOA! We made it just in time to set up camp that night and spent our first camping night of the trip! We had decided to take our smaller, 4-person tent as opposed to our pop-up camper or even our bigger tent. The small tent was easy to set up and took up so much less space in the van, and though I would have enjoyed the camper for the sake of the actual camping, it was much easier to travel without it, and we didn't spend that much time at the campsite anyway. The small tent worked out great, since we had cold nights and were able to keep warm better because we were so crowded! Yay for body heat!

One of my very favorite parts of camping is that the Coach always gets up first and makes breakfast. It is the bomb.

Friday, after our lovely breakfast, we headed to Sedona for some beautiful views and some awesome hiking.

Ah man, I love these three.

Also I love this hair.

And then there's this pose by Owen.

Daddy teaching the girls how to work together to climb.

This particular hike had over 13 creek crossings. It was crazy! Claire was super nervous at first but kept getting braver throughout the hike.

By the end of the hike, 3 out of 5 of us were soaked. (Owen and I stayed dry, thanks to my superb sense of balance. Or really good luck.)

You can't see him, but Owen is on my back in this picture!

This was at the Sedona visitor's center.

I didn't get pictures of this but we did go to this really neat place called Lowell Observatory that Friday night. We got to look through really high powered telescopes and see some really neat things in space, including the space in Orion's belt where new stars are being born! It was quite an experience!

And back to our home sweet KOA for another night of camping.

Next stop...GRAND CANYON!!!!
