Avocado and Such

Is my baby really old enough for solid foods?

(sigh.)

What do I want to remember about Averi Kate at 5 1/2 months old?

She still is the most social thing and is happy as long as someone is either holding or talking to her. She smiles at everyone and recognizes the voices of her mommy, daddy, and sister. She generally wakes up happy and talks until I get to her room.

She is sleeping through the night now but is diametrically opposed to actually falling asleep without a fight. She is slightly overdramatic anytime that she has to go to bed or anytime that she realizes she is alone in a room. Or anytime that she is about to eat. Good grief. She acts like I never feed her.

She seems to be teething but nothing has popped through her gums yet.

When she gets excited she pumps her left arm up and down, or thumps her leg against whatever surface she is lying on. I think she actually has pretty good rhythm.

She did enjoy her first food last night -- avocado. Maybe she will be a good eater like her sister!

Sometimes I just want to hold her.

Forever.

Don't grow up too fast, AK!

Snorts and Such

Claire apparently wanted to sleep with her guitar the other night.

2 pieces of background information you must know for this story.
1. Claire and I refer to all heavy machinery as snorts. (based on the book "Are You My Mother?")
2. For the past week construction workers have been working on something in the courtyard of our apartment complex.

The other day was, well, a long day. Really like 3 days in one. So when Claire came running downstairs when she was *supposed* to be asleep, or at least pretending to be asleep at naptime, I turned around in frustration and ready to let her have it. But she saw the look on my face and frantically tried to cut me off at the pass, explaining as her hands flew wildly around in the air, "I was in bed but there's a noise in my room and I don't like it. I don't want to go to sleep in there and it's loud and it's just...it's just...It's really snorty!"

Claire examining her Daddy's foot.

Yesterday I was feeding AK and also halfway reading a book on the side while Claire played independently. Now that I think about it, I subconsciously heard Claire grunting and groaning and struggling with something, but I didn't really take notice of it until I heard her exclaim, "Thank you God!"I quickly looked up and assessed the situation, and realized that she had been struggling to get her baby doll stroller out from beside the couch and when she finally got it, she was expressing her thanks to God for helping her get it out! It was funny and sweet and very Claire.

Hmmm, what's this?

I was reading a book to Claire when she suddenly busted out laughing and said, "Noooooooke. My tummy said, Noooooooke." Apparently she can interpret tummy growls.

Wedding Festivities

We had so much fun at Gigi and Bean's wedding. I really didn't get many pictures because I was trying to focus on being there in the moment, helping things go smoothly, and just enjoy being a part of my sister's wedding! But I will try to share some when the wedding pictures come in from the photographer.

I did snap a few shots at the rehearsal dinner. Here are Claire and Justice playing the drums on the table with their forks...

The happy couple one night before they became husband and wife!

Dobby did an awesome job with Jeni's, Mom's, and my hair on the wedding day!

The bride checking out her hairdo...

Beautiful girl!

Jen and Daddy...

Her dress was so beautiful!

Claire, Justice, and Averi Kate were honorary flower girls. They did not walk down the aisle but were there for all the pictures! :)

Bo, Bonnie, and Justice...

The littlest flower girl...

And finally, a "family of four" shot. After I changed clothes, of course.

I will try to post more and better pictures soon!

Snapshots from the Weekend

We had lots of fun last week as we prepared for my little sister's wedding! The girls and I spent the whole week at Nan and Popple's, and Jared's family joined us on that Thursday night. Here are some snapshots of the girls having fun together!
